If you wanted stereo play-back on the GBA you'd use one channel for left and one channel for right, I assume it's the same on SNES but you get 8 channels to play with. The SNES audio is based entirely on using custom PCM sound-fonts (that the developers would record and upload to the audio RAM), 16-bit stereo, with dedicated hardware for streaming 8 channels of audio at the same time. The GBA audio is the same as the original Game Boy's audio, but with two 8-bit PCM channels added to it. The GBA itself doesn't have a "soundfont".
